Osimhen Hits Hat-trick as Galatasaray Crush Ajax in Champions League Rout

Victor Osimhen delivered a stunning performance for Galatasaray, scoring all three goals in a commanding win over Ajax that condemned the Dutch side to their fourth consecutive Champions League defeat this season.

The Nigerian forward was unstoppable after the break, heading home Leroy Sane’s cross in the 59th minute to open the scoring before calmly converting two penalties. Both spot-kicks came after Ajax were penalised for handball — the first confirmed by VAR after the ball deflected off Youri Baas’ leg onto his arm, and the second given against Anton Gaaei.

Osimhen showed no mercy from 12 yards, sending the first penalty low past Remko Pasveer and rifling the second into the top corner. His treble took his tally to six goals in the current European campaign and 25 overall in continental competitions, surpassing Obafemi Martins to become Nigeria’s all-time top scorer in Europe.

Despite Ajax holding out until half-time — thanks largely to two fine first-half saves from Pasveer — they had no answer to Galatasaray’s second-half dominance.

The heavy defeat leaves the Amsterdam club bottom of the group, with a miserable record of four losses and a 14-1 aggregate scoreline.

Galatasaray’s victory lifts them to ninth in the league phase standings, just outside the top eight automatic qualification spots for the Champions League knockout stage.

Osimhen now leads the scoring chart with six goals, edging ahead of Harry Kane, Erling Haaland, and Kylian Mbappé.
