Police Nab Couple Running Drug Ring In Imo

The Imo State Police Command’s Surveillance Unit has arrested two suspects involved in the sale of prohibited hard drugs.

The operation was carried out on March 27, 2026 at about 6. 30 pm at Umunjoku Obiokwu Amakohia-Ubi in Owerri West LGA.

‎The suspects, Collins Iwunze (51) and his wife, Onyinyechi Iwunze (43), were apprehended at their residence where they allegedly sold hard drugs in commercial quantities.

Confirming the arrest, the police spokesman in the state, Henry Okoye, said “a bag containing assorted illicit substances was recovered during the operation.”

He said ‎the suspects were in custody while investigations were ongoing to facilitate their prosecution.

Okoye said ‎the Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Audu Garba Bosso, had commended the operatives and reiterated the Command’s commitment to combating drug-related crimes.

He urged members of the public to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
