UNICAL Suspends Acting Dean Faculty Of Law Over Misconduct

The University Of Calabar, have suspended the Acting Dean Faculty Of Law Prof. Michael, Takim Otu over his involvement in the law school mobilization for 2025.

Following a petition by students and parents a senate fact finding committee was setup for the matter and the management of the institution found the report of the Acting Dean as not being substantial.

Management have thereby directed that Prof. Michael Takim Otu, should handover all official items in his possession to the Acting Dean Of The Faculty Of Law pending the determination of the matter by the Senior Staff disciplinary committee before leaving the university.

Part of the circular issued by the registrar of the institution reads;

“Consequently, you are hereby suspended from your official duties in the university with effect from Tuesday, 20th January 2026, pending the determination of the matter by the Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee. You are you handover all official items in your possession to the Ag. Dean, Faculty Of Law, before leaving the university. Also note that you are not to be seen within and around the University during the period of your suspension, except on the invitation to appear before the Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee.
