Breaking News: Federal High Court, Abuja Set To Hear The Case Against Hon. Stella Odey Over Alleged Diversion Of LG Funds

A fresh legal battle has emerged within the All Progressives Congress following the filing of a suit at the Federal High Court of Nigeria over the party’s House of Representatives primary process in Cross River State.

According to court documents sighted in Abuja, the suit was filed by Circle of Life Foundation and Mr. Abraham B. Irem as 1st and 2nd plaintiffs respectively. The defendants listed in the matter include the APC, the party’s National Chairman, National Secretary, the Chairman of the APC Screening Committee for the House of Representatives primaries in Cross River State, the APC State Chairman in Cross River, and Hon. Stella Odey Ekpo.

The originating summons, filed before the Federal High Court, seeks judicial interpretation of issues relating to the nomination forms and supporting endorsements allegedly submitted during the nomination process. The plaintiffs are reportedly asking the court to determine whether the actions complained of complied with provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), the Electoral Act 2022, and the APC’s internal guidelines.

The court document indicates that the defendants were directed to enter appearance within 30 days after service of the summons.

Although the full details of the allegations were not visible in the available court document, the matter is expected to attract political attention within Cross River APC circles, particularly as it concerns the legitimacy of the party’s nomination procedures for the House of Representatives primaries.

As of the time of filing this report, no official response had been issued by the APC or the other defendants named in the suit.
