Your Excellency,
We write this open letter with a deep sense of responsibility and concern over what appears to be the continued sidelining of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP), Cross River State Chapter, in matters relating to governance and democratic engagement in our dear state.
The CNPP has, over the years, played a vital role in promoting democratic values, political accountability, constructive opposition, and issue-based governance. As a coalition of registered political parties, the organization has consistently contributed to strengthening democracy by offering policy alternatives, engaging government constructively, and speaking on matters affecting the welfare of the people.
Your administration came into office with the promise of inclusiveness, transparency, and people-oriented governance.
Many Cross Riverians expected that every legitimate stakeholder, including the CNPP, would have an opportunity to contribute ideas that could enhance the development of our state. Unfortunately, there is a growing perception that the CNPP has been excluded from meaningful consultation and participation in governance.
Democracy thrives when government listens not only to supporters but also to constructive critics. The exclusion of recognized political stakeholders weakens participatory governance and deprives the government of valuable perspectives that could improve policy formulation and implementation.
His Excellency could remember that that the CNPP endorsed and supported him roundly during the first term elections and unveiled a one hundred thousand voters register in support.
Your Excellency, the CNPP remains committed to the progress, peace, and development of Cross River State. Its interventions on issues of public interest are not intended to undermine your administration but to ensure accountability, transparency, and effective service delivery for all citizens.
We respectfully urge your administration to embrace a more inclusive approach by engaging the CNPP and other critical stakeholders through regular consultations, policy dialogues, and institutional partnerships. Such engagement will strengthen public confidence in government and reinforce the democratic principles upon which our nation is built.
History remembers leaders who rise above political differences and unite all stakeholders for the common good. We believe that your administration has the opportunity to demonstrate such statesmanship by opening its doors to constructive engagement with the CNPP.
As citizens who desire the best for Cross River State, we remain hopeful that this appeal will receive the attention it deserves. Our collective objective should be to build a stronger, more prosperous, and more inclusive Cross River State for present and future generations.
